How Do You Reduce Digital Eye Strain?
Digital eye strain — the tired, dry, achy feeling after long screen time — mostly comes from how we use screens, not just the light. We blink less when staring at screens (drying the eyes), hold focus at one distance for hours, and often sit too close or in poor lighting. These habits, more than blue light alone, drive that end-of-day eye fatigue.
The most reliable fix is the 20-20-20 habit: every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet away for 20 seconds, to relax the focusing muscles. Add decent room lighting, an arm's-length screen distance, and conscious blinking. Some people also find blue light glasses add comfort during long sessions. If strain is persistent or painful, see an eye care professional — it could be something correctable like an outdated prescription. More in our buyer's guide.
