How Do You Choose a Red Light Therapy Device?

Compare wavelengths and coverage, not marketing claims — here's what actually matters.

The most useful spec to compare is the wavelengths a device emits — typically given in nanometers — since that's the actual, measurable thing rather than a marketing label. Devices commonly list specific red and/or near-infrared wavelengths; knowing exactly what a panel emits lets you compare like for like instead of relying on names.

Beyond wavelength, practical factors include the size of the device (how much area it covers), build quality, the recommended distance and session time, and any included eye protection. Bigger isn't automatically better — a small targeted device may suit the face, while a panel covers more of the body. We'd steer you toward comparing real specs and your intended use rather than bold claims on the box. For anything health-related, ask a professional. More in red light therapy at home explained.
