How Many Wool Dryer Balls Should You Use Per Load?
Most guidance suggests using 3 to 6 wool dryer balls per load, scaling up with load size. For a small or medium load, around 3 balls is plenty; for a large or bulky load — think towels, sheets, or a packed dryer — 5 or 6 helps more, because more balls means more separation of the laundry and better air circulation.
The logic is simple: the balls work by tumbling through and separating clothes so hot air moves freely. A big, dense load needs more of them to do that effectively, while a few extra in a small load won't hurt. If you're trying to cut drying time on heavy loads, erring toward more balls helps. This is also why dryer balls often come in packs of six. More in wool dryer balls vs. dryer sheets.
