How Long Should a Red Light Therapy Session Be?

Usually a few minutes per area, but follow your device's guide — here's the grounded approach.

At-home red light sessions are typically short — often in the range of several minutes per area — but the exact time depends entirely on the device's power and the manufacturer's instructions. There's no universal number, and a stronger panel used close up will call for different timing than a smaller device. The device's guide is the authority here.

A reasonable approach is to start at the lower end of the recommended range, keep the suggested distance from the device, and build a consistent routine rather than chasing longer sessions. Longer isn't necessarily better, and consistency tends to matter more than marathon sessions. If you have any health conditions or take medications affecting light sensitivity, check with a doctor first. We're describing general usage, not making medical claims.
