How Long Should a Nap Be?
10–20 minutes is ideal — here's how to nap without the grogginess.
A nap of about 10 to 20 minutes is the sweet spot for most people. That's long enough to feel refreshed but short enough that you wake before dropping into deep sleep — which is what causes that groggy, worse-than-before feeling known as sleep inertia. A short "power nap" gives you the lift without the fog.
Timing matters too: early afternoon is generally best, since napping too late in the day can make it harder to fall asleep at night. If you nap longer than 30 minutes or late in the afternoon and then struggle at bedtime, that's the likely culprit. Keep naps short and early and they complement nighttime sleep rather than competing with it.
Try Nocturna for better sleep.
