Can You Put Stainless Steel in the Microwave?
No — you should never put stainless steel in the microwave. Metal reflects microwaves rather than letting them pass through, which prevents your food from heating properly and can cause sparking or arcing inside the microwave, potentially damaging it. This applies to steel containers, travel mugs, and foil alike.
This is the one real tradeoff of steel food storage: it's oven-safe and freezer-safe and built to last, but reheating happens out of the container. The simple workaround is to transfer food to a microwave-safe dish (glass or ceramic) to heat it, then enjoy. For everything else — storing, packing, freezing — steel is hard to beat. More in steel vs. plastic containers.
Try Steely stainless steel storage.
